Horoscopes on productivity for 2022

It might surprise some people to learn that I find horoscopes really interesting. I first started reading them in university with my friends and I loved how you could determine relationship compatibility based on each others’ signs. It gave us a shared language for understanding our personality traits, like why someone would react the way they did and why someone else would behave differently.

Even if my initial fascination with astrology started out lighthearted, I find myself using it for times when there is no certain answer.

When I first started getting to know my husband Asser, we had a lot of things in common. We both loved cricket and had a shared sense of humour. When I hoped for reassurance that our friendship could become a lasting relationship, I sent him a link to our horoscope compatibility.

Asser is a Virgo. I am a Cancer. Virgos are rational people. They follow reason and logic, approaching their life systematically. Cancers are nearly the opposite. We’re emotional, and make decisions based on instincts. I didn’t need our horoscopes to provide validation for our relationship, but it did provide a way of understanding our differences.

Asser was skeptical of horoscopes (he is a Virgo after all!) but I think he’s since come around. And now he realises why I always follow my feelings first and admits I have good intuition.

I find comfort in reading horoscopes. I don’t see them as predictions, just something to help give me confidence in my choices. This is why I asked Kirah Tabuorn of The Strology to provide a reading for Podium subscribers about our careers and productivity this year. It’s been a challenging start to 2022 and I’m hoping these horoscopes will provide anyone reading this with motivation or direction.

You’ve put in so much hard work to restructure and solidify your professional status and now the work has slightly shifted towards fortifying important relationships within your larger community. This year is all about surrounding yourself with and putting your trust into the right people. Your desire to connect with more community might feel challenged by your material circumstances. There are creative solutions that lie within this tension.

You’re being invited to get innovative with the ways you make a living & use your resources, which might be causing you stress. What’s behind this invitation is an opportunity to heal wounds around scarcity and lack. Watch what happens when you truly believe you can receive that which you truly desire.

This summer could be a particularly fun one for you. You’ll start to feel the boost by the end of May. Ride that wave! By late October you’ll be called to slow down and restrategize your energy output. Heed this call! Stop when your body signals it’s time, it won’t be forever. Extended rest is just what you’ll need after a busy year.

2022 might have started off in a weird place with you feeling unclear about the work you’re doing and your ability to support yourself doing it. Things should start to become less uncertain as we move into spring. You probably already feel it tingling inside of you, but there’s so much potential for you to chase your dreams this year. It’s really all about YOU. What do you want out of your life? How do you want to use this potential?

The best advice you can receive this year is to prioritize your autonomy. You are in a process of becoming the most authentic YOU possible, and as you move closer to that potential, other parts of your identity will inevitably become less relevant, as will certain people, as will certain titles and roles you currently hold.

Don’t cling on to what’s ready to be released, you don’t need the extra weight where you’re going. There will be times when you struggle with reconciling your professional identity with who you’re becoming. Give yourself room to explore and expect growing pains.

You’ve spent the last few years working on yourself in ways that are both impressive and surprising. Now it’s time to put all of that inner work…to work. You’re able to get a lot done throughout 2022, that is until we hit the last few months of the year when you’re invited to slow down, reassess your capacity and restrategize.

Until then, you have a lot to do, and there are more opportunities for you to be acknowledged for the work you’re doing. Allow yourself to be seen, for the community you’re craving connection with will be able to find you more easily when you aren’t keeping your brilliance all to yourself. A dream business partnership could be materializing for you this year, so put yourself out there and be open to making magical connections.

The main challenge is to find a balance in your work for both mental and physical wellness. It’ll be easy to pendulum swing from grinding away to isolation & reprive. You need both, but not necessarily in extremes.

You’re being pulled toward exploring new horizons and expanding your worldview, whether that’s through travel, study, or spirituality. Heed this call. What you learn in the first few months of this year will provide the groundwork for more growth, visibility and opportunities in your professional life. Get clear about what you want and try to be discerning about what you say yes to. You don’t want to be too busy to say yes to the right opportunity!

The underlying theme of the year for you lies around your capacity to support others and your desire for more boundaries and structure around how much you’re offering. You deserve to have people to lean on too, so practice asking for exactly that from those who have the ability to reciprocate.

You’ve got your eyes on the prize…you might not know exactly what it is, but you probably feel the potential. It’s not just in your head! Your professional identity is changing in ways you can’t make complete sense of right now. That’s ok. What you can bet on is that these changes will bring forth roles that are authentic to who you are and who you’re here to be.

All you have to do is allow change to happen. Find your center as the Wheel of Life turns without trying to hold on to what’s inevitably ready to be let go of.

Over the past year, your closer partnerships and relationships have taken center stage and you’ve been putting in a lot of focused, dedicated work to build long-lasting and stable connections. However, with an increased focus on your career, there’s bound to be some challenge in maintaining consistency in your relationships. It’s not that you can’t have both, but both areas of life require a lot from you. Remain honest and open with your communication and feel your way through any chasms that may occur.

Still grinding away, huh? At least you get some reprieve through forming deeper connections with those you love as well as through the new people you meet this year. Although you’re still working so hard, you’re building off of what you started in 2021.

You’re broadening your horizons. You’ve already been experiencing mindset shifts over the last few years but nothing compares to what’s in store for you this year. You’re being invited to let go of beliefs and mental constructs that aren’t authentic to who you truly are and want to be. With that liberation, however, can come confusion about how to move forward with the work that you currently do.

There’s no need to make any rash decisions (although you may feel like it at certain points this year). See how these new beliefs take shape, and give yourself time to adjust and digest these changes on a somatic level. The time to act will be clear when it comes.

You’ve been through so much these last few years that you may be starting to wonder how you’re still standing. The difficulties you’ve faced have been humbling to say the least, but know that you’ve forged a much more secure foundation for yourself moving forward.

In 2022, much of your focus shifts towards your work and relationships. Work in particular might be picking up quicker than you expected. In fact, you may become overwhelmed with the amount of opportunities coming your way this spring. Discernment is key. You have to know how and when to say “no”, and luckily you’ve been through crash course on boundaries over the last few years. Only say “yes” to work that sparks joy and feels reciprocal.

You’re also refining the way you make money and use your resources, so expect fluctuations as you figure it out. It’s a process of letting go & restrategizing all year as you figure out ways to both help support loved ones and find support yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Your relationships take center stage this year, in a big way. It’s like you can’t get enough company, which might surprise both you and your loved ones. You’re forming all sorts of new partnerships this year as you start to meet new people, many of whom you’ll feel destined to connect with. A dream business partnership could be manifesting for you this year as well.

You’ll be working a lot this summer, and you’ll feel more resourced than ever to take on new projects and power through them, but know when to slow down and rest. It is especially important to do so for the last few months of the year. When your energy begins to wane, listen to and trust your body and slowwww downnn. There is no rush. Transformation takes time.

Are you working hard to learn a new skill right now? Whether it’s a new language or technical skill, or even a big writing project, whatever it is you’ve been working so hard at, keep at it. It will pay off, quite literally, eventually.

The challenge lies in the day-to-day work that keeps on piling up. How do you balance it all? When your energy and capacity is being consistently poured into your day job, how do you find the time and energy to devote to other practices? It’s tough, and there’s no simple answer, but it is something you’ll grapple with this year.

The good news is that new work opportunities are abound, and even more so are opportunities to have FUN. Let loose this summer and prioritize pleasure. Be sure to balance out all the hard work you’re putting in by putting joy first.

What you want vs what you have is the main drama of 2022. The resources available to you right now might not feel like enough to satisfy your desires. You do deserve nice things, and you know that deep down, but often your material circumstances don’t align with your heart's desires. The good news is that you’re just as creative as you are practical and this tension will guide you towards interesting solutions to these particular woes.

The beginning of this year might have started out weird on the career front, as much was up for review and restructuring. You’ve been invited to envision new ways of being known—a new professional role to take on, and perhaps it’s directly connected to your sparkling creativity. Lean into it and start implementing this new vision as we move into spring. There’s so much more to come that you can’t even begin to imagine right now. Just have faith that you’ll find the support you need.

You’re starting this year off slightly more hopeful, especially when it comes to your financial situation. Maybe you’re not in the clear yet, but there’s faith that you will be, and that matters. Your ability to procure the resources you need has increased, so ask for what you need or simply go out and get it. Secure your bag, and don’t for a second believe you don’t deserve all of it.

The big question this year is, how do you want to be seen? What do you want to be known for? Your professional identity is up for a major refinement this year, so give yourself time and space to ask these big questions and work through them. It’s time to retire some aspects of your public self, and that’s ok. Your home and family need more of you this year, so pour yourself into your roots and foundation so that you can bloom again when you’re ready.

It’s simply your time to shine. Embrace the newfound confidence that you’re experiencing these days, in both your personal and professional identities. It might have felt difficult to be seen last year because you were unsure of how you wanted to be seen. Now you have more clarity and even if it isn’t crystal clear, you can navigate more easily by feeling your way through. Your intuition is paramount.

You just being yourself is enough. There’s a glow to you these days that folks will naturally be drawn towards that makes them want to work with you. If there’s a particular skill set that’s pulling your focus, pour yourself into it. There’s a lot of excitement and possibly in this new thing that you’re learning.

This summer you’re looking at big earnings but potentially big spending as well. Keep an eye on your budget because even if your wallet balloons, there’s always the potential for it to pop. Be discerning with how you spend because your income could slow down for a bit at the end of the year. Nothing permanent though! Just plan ahead.

Hello Malala! I do not strictly believe in horoscopes, but I regularly read my horoscope, I find it very interesting and something worth reading. I'm a cancerian and my fiance is a virgo, same as you and Asser, everything you wrote is very relatable.

Dear Malala - I find horoscopes amusing - and not serious. I am waiting for the person who follows the movements of the stars to declare NEW DATA based on what we know about stars now that we have telescopes ! I have awe that the tribe in Africa knew that Sirius was a binary from ancient times. ( My spell check does not want to print Dogon and keeps changing it - and maybe I have it wrong. - nearly 80 year-old lady in New Hampshire , USA May your work be blessed by all the powers that grant good energy and positive vibes.
